Expertise and the “IT” factor

Often I am asked how to ensure success. To me the heart of the matter is always a matter of heart. We look to successful people with awe and reverence as if the most successful people have some magic formula. Look - the only difference between you and the most successful people in the world is they have executed massive levels of effort and action to achieve what they believe is their destiny. Living with excellence is the key to unlocking your potential. The first of the 3E's will build the foundation to massive success and excellence in life. The first E is expertise.
I'm sure your asking yourself, "what does expertise have to do with excellence"? Think of every successful person you have ever met. Not only are they experts in their fields but they have the confidence needed to achieve their fullest potential. The way to guarantee success is to have an unwavering believing in yourself and your abilities. If Gladwell's assertion is correct and it takes 10000 hours to gain expertise then literally 5 years of full time work will create expertise. C'mon! It took me 5years in my first business to know the difference between my ass and a whole in the ground. However once I figured out what I was doing and realized my own potential I unlocked the first secret to success - expertise. So here are the building blocks to expertise.
#1 confidence. The difference between confidence and cockiness is provenness. Be confident in yourself and your own ability. You ARE the best. You may be the only one who doesn't believe it. And if you don't believe it ask yourself, "am I doing everything I need to do to be the best?" You will find the closer you are to the real answer to that question the closer you will be to the truth about yourself. If you are weighing in on the side of cockiness you're not working hard enough on proving your worth through hard work. Get after it.
#2 be the difference. When you are the difference between average and extraordinary you become the expert in your field. Be the example of what excellence looks like. Be the "it" factor people often talk about. When you raise your game to this level you become unstoppable. People start coming to you for all kinds of things you never thought they would. You also close business like a freak. You deserve to exploit your IT factor.
#3 do what no one else will do...happily. When you do what no one else will do happily you set yourself apart from the crowd instantly. All the average and below average do-nothings whine and complain about how hard it is to succeed. Don't listen to their negativity. Just do all the things they complain about and watch yourself thrive. There is no secret to this. It's just about busting your hind parts constantly. Yes it's tough. Yes it rough. But what part of succeeding and maximizing your potential isn't tough. It's so worth it.
